2009 Outings

Activity Name Activity Date Waiver, Permission Slips & Money Due
Cobia Submarine Outing December 12 & 13, 2009 November 5, 2009
We will board the sub on Saturday night. We will take a behind the scenes tour of this World War II sub and then participate in their learning activities. We will have a snack and some free time, then try to get some sleep. I hope you're not claustrophobic! In the morning we will have breakfast and then visit the Maritime Museum.

Adventure Rock Outing November 21 & 22, 2009 October 29, 2009
We will be rock wall climbing at Adventure Rock in Pewaukee Wisconsin. They have 11,000 sq. ft of walls to climb, from easy to expert. Hook up to one of 40 top ropes and climb as high as 35 feet. We will arrive in the evening to learn the ropes, then climb as much as you can 'til you fall asleep. Don't forget to climb down for pizza around 10:00. There will be a light breakfast in the morning.

Maquoketa Caves Outing October 16, 17 & 18, 2009 October 1, 2009
We will be camping and exploring at Maquoketa Caves State Park in Iowa. Discovered in 1830 and once home to early Indians, Maquoketa caves is one of Iowa's most interesting parks. Six miles of trail lead to sixteen different caves and cool rock formations like Natural Bridge and Balanced Rock.

Kishwaukee River Canoe Trip September 18, 19 & 20, 2009 September 3, 2009
We will be camping at the Rockford Rotary Forest Preserve near Rockford. Saturday we will canoe about 8 1/2 miles down the Kishwaukee River stopping to have lunch along the way.

May Day Hike May 9, 2009 April 30, 2009
We will be hiking at nearby Deer Grove Forest Preserve north of Palatine. After the hike we will cook a Boy Scout High Adventure style lunch and play some games.

Blackhawk Camporee Outing April 17, 18 & 19, 2009 March 13, 2009
We will be camping at Camp Lakota in Woodstock Ill. with hundreds of fellow scouts. The theme of the camporee is Disaster Preparedness. There will be stations set up to teach you how to react to different disaster type situations. Scouts can earn requirements towards their Emergency Preparedness merit badge.

Scout Skills Outing March 13, 14 & 15, 2009 March 5, 2009
We will be camping at Camp Lakota in Woodstock Ill. Activities will be centered around cooking and team building games .

Eagle Cave Outing February 21 & 22, 2009 February 5, 2009
We will explore the cave Saturday afternoon and evening. The cave is lit and has trails and rock formations to climb on. For the more adventurous, there are smaller “trails” that you crawl through on your belly! These trails are totally dark and you will need a headlamp. We will sleep in the cave on the ground. The cave can be damp and drip water, so a sheet of plastic or a small tarp is recommended to put under and over you. Temperature in the cave is about 52 degrees. We are limited to 30 people of which 5 or 6 need to be drivers.

Cascade Mountain Snow Sports Outing January 23, 24 & 25, 2009 January 9, 2009
We will ski Saturday at Cascade Mt. in Portage, WI. We will be lodging at the Best Western Countryside Inn in Lodi. Saturday night will consist of pizza for dinner, swimming in the pool, and a movie in the conference room, where we will be sleeping on the floor. A beginner's lesson is included and mandatory unless the ski lesson exemption is signed by parent.
